The best beers in the world have been tasted and judged at the prestigious 2023 Australian International Beer Awards!
Local Brewery Burleigh Barrels was a notable award winner in several critical categories; including Munich Style Helles (Best European-Style Lager), Juicy or Hazy Pale Ale (Best Modern Pale Ale), American Style (Best International-Style Pale Ale) and American Style Red (Best Amber / Dark Ale).
Celebrating 30 years in 2023, the Australian International Beer Awards are the world’s largest annual beer competition judging both packaged and draught beer. It is conducted by Melbourne Royal, who also conduct the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards and Melbourne Royal Wine Awards.
Over 80 industry experts assessed more than 2800 entries across four days in May, with beers received from Australia and around the world. The awards offer entrants the opportunity to benchmark against set criteria; receive invaluable independent feedback from industry experts; and be rewarded for excellence.
This is the second year Burleigh Barrels has seen success at the Australian International Beer Awards. The Brewery recently celebrated its first birthday, and senior brewer Stu Hallam comments that ‘it’s a special moment to see that all six core range beers have now won awards. It’s a real testament to the hard work of that team at Burleigh Barrels, that all six core range beers and the Hazy boy tropical infused Pale Ale Have now all won awards. To see this level of success so early in our journey reinforces our belief that we’ve got a real world class range of Craft Beer we are brewing here at Burleigh Barrels.’
